This original pop NewYork city skyline painting entitled ,”I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps” is certainly inspired through the works of 60’s icons Peter max and JAMES ROSENQUIST. I find this appauling! How would you feel if you drove to New York tomorrow only to see the Statue of Liberty had turned brown. As you can see below, I have also attached below one of my favorite pieces of sculpture from Philadelphia, “ THE SUNDIAL“, 1947 by Beatrice Fenton. The natural patina on the statue is the most magnificent emerald green, and I likened it to my youthful memories of the of The Emerald City from the1939 classic “The Wizard Of Oz”. When adding the actual base from the ground, the iconic sculpture created by French artist Frederic Auguste Bartholdi in 1875 stand over 310 feet tall. I was just in love with THE STATUE OF LIBERTY: her mammoth size,151 feet from base of her feet to the torch is simply amazing. In the 7th grade, I choose to take the school class trip to New York City vs going to Washington D.C. I come from Philly, The City of Brotherly Love! My city is notorious for being artistic because of its location, caught between our nation’s capital and pretty much the entire worlds’ capital, New York City (certainly the capital of the art world).
