They are fast melee focused army with wings (or jetpacks) and an angelic vampires theme. These noble loyalist warriors are haunted by a deteriorating gene seed resulting in blood lust and visions of their fathers death. Sorry.ĭescription - Descendants of the noble winged Primarch Sanguinius. I think you really need the blood angels ying in there to be the space wolves yang. Sincerely, a lover of the guys glad in gold. If you have a hard time with coming up with strengths, one good one to include is that all Custodes troops are beasts in melee, even a Sagittarum model doesn't have bad chances against average characters from other armies when armed with a misericordia.Īgain, love your work and absolutely no bad feelings meant! If you're referring to the sagittarum I would want to point out that even though they're good they suffer from the fact that base marines for the same point cost get 4 bolters, so rapid fire 4 essentially, which while with one less strength and AP is at much greater volume, hence better against infantry. The average Custodes troop is equipped with some form of spear or axe, the stat line of which is usually similar to that of a bolter with one more damage and AP, for 5x the cost of a basic space marine with a bolter, I don't think it's accurate to say that they boast good anti infantry. I would want to offer a tad of constructive criticism on the Custodes part, I don't think that it would be accurate to say that Custodes troops boast good anti infantry, for anti infantry is one of Custodes largest weak points. Hope it helps you recruit new 40K players too! I wanted this overview to be as rules-light as possible and helpful to someone who has no background in wargaming or the 40K universe. The goal of this document is to serve as an entry point to help newcomers to the hobby get a quick glance at the different factions and their playstyles before making a decision on which to play. If you have suggestions or edits, I'm all ears. I copy and pasted some basic strengths and weaknesses from Goonhammer (adding a few of my own) while talking briefly about the different factions and including a sample image from the Warhammer Community site. The Faction Focuses that Warhammer Community put out are great, but also require some knowledge of the rules and are spread across a number of different articles. Goonhammer's Start Competing! posts are fantastic for someone familiar with the rules framework but are lengthy reads. I am trying to introduce some friends to Warhammer 40K in preparation for 9th and one thing we struggled with is making it accessible for them to see all of the different factions and how they play at a glance.
